Just call on 0845 224 1965. The advice is free, the call is a local call rate. We have hit rock bottom. We are Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired To Intervene in another persons addiction, to the point where they accept help often feels very uncomfortable. Family, Friends and employers reach rock bottom long before the addict or alcoholic, so to Intervene is more about them than the alcoholic. Saying that, a Family that has worked with an Interventionist is able to help a poorly person accept treatment earlier rather than later. We all know that you can not help an addict or alcoholic until they ask for help, or hit rock bottom! Wrong This is so wrong. Addiction and Alcoholism function behind denial. A combination of the repression, blackout and euphoric recall symptoms leave a person unable to connect with their problem. They think “you are the problem”. A family that decides to Intervene will drastically change the enabling dynamics that currently exist, and will be…

Workplace Intervention – Drug and Alcohol Policy
workplace drug and alcohol policy A workplace drug and alcohol policy is most definitely based around the “seatbelt” philosophy of business. An effective policy will never solve or reduce the percentage of addiction problems affecting your workplace, but it will allow you to save time and money with early workplace intervention. The main aspect of addiction, be it alcoholism, legal or illegal drug abuse, gambling or codependency is denial. From the top to the bottom of society we naturally create a mask of denial around any form of addiction. (Please see the information on denial). Addiction is a condition that will get worse, and therefore the consequences will continue to have a greater effect on the workplace. The Chartered Management (CMI) Institute clearly state that the cost to local industry is well in excess of £800 million per year, affecting the health, safety and welfare of staff and of course the financial stability of the company. The CMI also show that 85% of the population is directly or indirectly affected by the drug and alcohol misuse of another person. 46% of the workplace is not confident that they would recognise the signs of misuse. An effective drug and alcohol policy…

Johnson Model
The Johnson Model Intervention: History and Background Vernon E. Johnson is perhaps the original and best known specialist in the field of addiction and Alcohol Interventions. Johnson refused to believe that alcoholic or addict was required to hit a rock bottom in order to access effective treatment. Johnson had witnessed how can willing clients could be coerced into accepting treatment through a legal system with effective ultimatum, and that evidence proved the success rates were the same for those with access the same treatment from other referring methods. Vernon E. Johnson explored a concept of Family Intervention, which he suggested could intervene with untreated alcoholism earlier as opposed to later by way of an effective therapeutic model. He argued that if a family of well-prepared concerned others were to approach an alcoholic/addict they could bring forward a rock bottom experience alongside the offer of effective treatment. He documented this concept and the learnings from exploring his theories in 1986. Intervention, a Step-By-Step Guide to Families and Friends of Chemically Dependent Persons, “ISBN: 0-935908-31-5″, is available from www.Hazelden.org. A Johnson Intervention is based around some key concepts. Preparation is paramount. Every detail must be planned. An effective group must learn about…

Legal Problem? Alcohol or Drug Problem?
If you currently have a legal problem, see if we can help. The legal system often deals with the effects of addiction without identifying the underlying cause. In turn, repeat offending or consequences can result in punitive action where treatment would have been more appropriate. Criminal law, domestic violence, drink driving, employment issues, debt/fraud/theft. These presentations often result from an underlying addiction issue. Addiction may present it self in the forms of alcohol, illegal or prescribed drugs, gambling, sex, spending, …. the list is long. Your clients may benefit from genuine efforts to identify and deal with the underlying problem. Often a legal problem is the first real opportunity for them to admit there is a problem. With skilled assessment and treatment, it is often better for your client and those who have to pass sentence, when an individual is pro-active in facing up to their problems. Client Assessments Assess and Report RedChair specialist staff can be contracted to assess a client for the underlying addiction and mental health status. This information will often support a client taking treatment, thus supporting the courts in providing more appropriate sentencing. Reducing the risk of an ongoing problem is a legal, social and humane…
Intervention Preparation Guide
RedChair Pre-Intervention u0026#038; Preparation Mentality u0026#038; Perspective. It is important, from this moment on, you adopt a mentality based on the following. Addiction in any form is an illness which can be treated. We do not wait for an AI (addicted individual) to want help or hit rock bottom. The group has hit rock bottom already. We are ready now. Addiction is a family condition that affects all, so all are involved in change. Enabling is not helping. Enabling is the major facilitating environment for addiction to develop. We are going to invite the AI (addicted individual) to join us, the CO’s (Concerned Others) in recovery. Resist doing others people thinking for them. Assuming often creates problems. Keep dignity and love at the heart of the process, Trust that good treatment works. We just have to get them there. Individually we can not help a poorly person, but as a group we can. Always trust in the group consensus. There will no longer be any secrets or alibis regarding the nature of the addiction within the Intervention Group. Detail is important. A methodical approach works. Pre-Intervention To Do List. Keep this secret for the moment from the AI (addicted individual).…
